Dr. Charles Matthew Oliver serves as the Medical Director at Amana Healthcare Bahrain, bringing over two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience across the United Kingdom, Australia, and the UAE. His focus is on elevating care quality, patient safety, and outcomes through evidence-based practice, clinical innovation, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Dr. Oliver leverages his clinical, academic, and systems leadership to shape a high-performing, patient-centered care model aligned with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 goals.
Prior to joining Amana Healthcare Bahrain, Dr. Oliver held senior medical leadership roles within M42’s integrated network across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Before relocating to the UAE, Dr. Oliver held prestigious clinical, academic and leadership roles in the United Kingdom. In 2020 he was appointed Consultant in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and in 2021 he was appointed Associate Professor at University College London’s Centre for Perioperative Medicine (UCL).
Dr. Oliver holds a doctorate (PhD) in Health Systems Research from UCL and was awarded a Fellowship at the National Institute for Academic Anaesthesia, UK. He has lectured extensively at international meetings and has more than 80 publications on improving patient care and outcomes. He continues to hold honorary roles at both UCLH and UCL. At Amana Healthcare Bahrain, Dr. Oliver leads clinical excellence initiatives, optimizes systems for consistent high-quality and patient-centered care, and champions staff development and community engagement.
